Kokoda History Treks
Kokoda Spirit is passionate and committed to the legacy and spirit that our Australian soldiers and their Papuan New Guinea Brothers have left for us on the Kokoda Trail.
The Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice on this sacred track have become legend.
We at Kokoda Spirit are dedicated to providing our trekkers with the Experience of a lifetime, to Experience Adventure to Experience the Spirit and to Experience the Culture and the People this wonderful, fascinating and awe inspiring Country provides.
When you walk the Kokoda Track you truly walk ‘in the footsteps of heroes”
Kokoda Spirit's Austrailian Guides guide you to the culture & history of Kokoda.
Our Head Australian Trek Master is the highly experienced and respected Wayne Wetherall.
Wayne has done countless treks across the Kokoda Trail, often in the company of the Landowner Chiefs or Land owner Councillors and has a very close relationship with the Villagers and Village people across the Track.
Wayne is supported by the very best Australian and Local PNG Trek Masters that have a deep knowledge and understanding of the battles and battlefields along the Track.
We are focused on safety with our head guides trained in remote first aid and ever watchful to reduce any potential hazards along the way. We carry the latest in satellite phones and back to base radio’s which are regularly monitored to ensure your safety.
Our group sizes are restricted to a maximum of 16 persons. This number allows you to have space on the track and plenty of space in our campsites and villagers. Smaller groups are more intimate and personal and also allow you the opportunity to learn from your guides, about the history, the sites and the culture of the people, without competing with mass numbers of trekkers.
When you walk the Kokoda Trail with all its obstacles and challenges you feel the aura and spirit of the young men who defeated an enemy, an enemy who had never been conquered, and an enemy that had never tasted defeat. They overcame overwhelming odds and atrocious conditions, out numbered and out gunned their victory was possible due to their trust and respect for each other, their dependence on each other, their ability to never give up, to hang in there when all seemed lost, self belief and strong leadership.
TO WALK IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HEROES, TO WALK IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF OUR BROTHERS is a heady experience; it is an experience a turning point that blows away our preconceived limitations of our physical, emotional and spiritual ability and endurance. It reminds us that the human spirit and our self imposed boundaries are only limited by our ability to dream and believe. It is not how many years a man lives that matters, but what he does with those years, many or few that is granted to him. The men on the Kokoda Track have done much with theirs.
